Calphalon Commercial hard-anodized pans are made for the more serious cook who is looking for kitchenware built to last a lifetime. This large-size, 12-quart stockpot is good for soup, stews, and pasta, and its heavy-gauge aluminum construction also stands up to deep frying. Made in China

I was a bit disappointed in the quality of this stockpot. I have the 8 quart version, which was made in Ohio, and am very happy with it. This stockpot is made in China, and is noticeably lower quality. It's not bad for the price, but it's probably not the deal you're hoping it is.

pot for canning

I bought this pot for canning (I make my own salsa - up to 100 qts) as I got tired of using my 6 & 8 qt pots at the same time. I've got over 30 calphalon pots/pans and although I prefer the quality of their products when they were made in Toledo, Ohio (several years ago), this is of similar quality of their "made in china line".

Colossal stockpot tops in quality...

Perfect for making gobs of chili or soup for 20, this giant, ultra-sturdy stockpot stands up to abuse and has Calphalon's quick, even heating thanks to its thick aluminum. Amazon currently has them for about two-thirds off, which is a good value, too.

Remember that you can not put Calphalon into the dishwasher -- even if you could figure out a way with this pot -- because it will leach out the anodized coating, leading to pits and discolorations and voiding the lifetime warranty.

Metal utensils are fine, and cleanup is relatively simple with a Scotchbrite pad and hot soapy water. Remember also to preheat the pan to help avoid sticking.

MMMmmm Good!

This is great! Works great! I used my mom's recipe from my youth! It evoked great memories - and so much easier. No salt, no ice.

WOW! Homemade IceCream!

This made the best ice cream! My first batch I didn't let cool long enough before putting it in, but I was anxious for some chocolate ice cream. LOL! After mixing and then putting it in the freezer, it came out wonderful. Note made to myself - Make sure to cool long enough.

My second batch cooled enough before I put it in and it came out soft serve fairly quickly. I made Mint Chocolate Chip.

I can't wait to make other flavors. :)

Fantastic!

I use this primarily to pick up dog hair after daily grooming of my two dogs. This is a fantastic machine! Picks up all the hair quickly and with little effort or time needed.

I picked it up at Target. Does an excellent job on cat hair and litter on the wood steps that go to the basement. I bought it for cat hair and litter for in and around the basement. Works pretty good on berber carpet also. I really like it.

I don't really know how to compare to other ones, but seems to have good power.

Wish I'd never bought it

We'd had a Braun we loved for years, but it finally died. I saw the good review about the KF400 in Consumers Reports and its low price, so I bought it. We were disappointed right from the get-go. The carafe feels cheap and not at all substantial. The pause-while-pouring feature never worked. Worst of all, after about 3 days, the hinged basket that holds the filter and coffee somehow got deformed so it would never snap shut. We discovered that problem when the basket sprang open while brewing and spewed coffee all over the counter. Thereafter, we had to hold it closed with a rubber band for it to work, which didn't look that attractive. I relegated the unit to the cellar and just bought a Cuisinart DCC-1200. It was $65 at Kohl's after sales and a $10 rebate, and so far it's working great. With the Braun KF400, unfortunately, I think you get what you paid for.

How could you complain???

I admit that I was a little hesitant to buy this based on some of the negative reviews. Fortunately, I decided to live dangerously and risk the $19.99.
As I sit here enjoying my very tasty, HOT cup of fresh brewed coffee, I can say that I have not experienced any of the problems listed in the negative reviews.
I have no problem seeing the interior water fill indicator lines on the black model. The coffee is piping hot, and I haven't had any plastic parts break off. I do admit, however, that I do treat it a little more delicately because of the reviewer reports of brittle plastic parts.
Most importantly it makes a great cup of coffee.
Also, Consumer Reports listed it the best overall coffee maker out of about thirty models including Bunn and other higher end models costing up to $300.

Just Buy It

I've found all the negative reviews of this perfectly-priced little coffe maker to be utter bunk. I'm a coffe snob, but having to start over in life after a group of people stole all my possessions and livelihood while doing volunteer combat videography for the Marine Corps in Fallujah and Ramadi, I had to stock my new little apartment on the cheap. So of course I eye and buy this little $19 baby on it's chain store perch. Coffee not hot ? Bullony. I have no patience and I pulled the pot out as soon as it was done, and I had to sip because it was as hot is it should be. So this theory that you have to wait for the burner to get to where it needs to be ain't true. It's simplistically stylish, works fast, and is not inordinately delicate - just don't be an oaf. Look y'all, it's 19.00 - so if you need to look in this pricerange, you'll do no better, even at $29 or $39, unless you need to set your pot like an alarm clock.
